Plug In ICA Summer Institute: Session 1 Open Studios, June 11, 2010 at 8:00 p.m

On Friday June 11, 2010 Plug In ICA presents Open Studios, the wrap-up event for the Summer Institute: Session 1: Postcommodity. From May 25 to June 11, fifteen artists and curators from across Canada have participated in Plug In ICA’s annual Summer Institute. Participants worked collaboratively in a peer-to-peer environment based upon their own interests and projects, as well as by exploring and aligning their work with collaborative and group activities. The Open Studios event will be a chance to see first-hand what they have been working on.

As part of the Open Studios, Postcommodity (Spirit Abuse), featuring Raven Chacon (of Mesa Ritual, KILT) & Nathaniel Young (of Ajilvsga), with White Dog, Blind Squab will perform a Heavy Pysch/Noise show at 10:00 p.m.

Summer Institute Session 1 artists include: KC Adams, Kendra Ballingall, Jordan Bennett, Roewan Crowe, Jeanette Johns, Myung-Sun Kim, Nicole Shimonek, Leslie Supnet, & Zephyra Vun.

Summer Institute Session 1 faculty include: Postcommodity, an interdisciplinary American Indian arts collective comprised of Raven Chacon (Navajo), Kade L. Twist (Cherokee), Steven Yazzie (Laguna/Navajo) and Nathaniel Young (Delaware/Kiowa/Pawnee), visiting curator Candice Hopkins (Ottawa), curator-in-residence Jenny Western and Institute Director Anthony Kiendl. Visiting guest curators also included Lee-Ann Martin (Ottawa) and Steve Loft (Toronto).

The event is open to the public, free and everyone is welcome to attend.
