Join us as we celebrate the participants of Session I of our 2019 Summer Institute: Trackings and Trappings with an open studio and roof top party. Plug In ICA will host a night of art, sound, and performances by Toby Gillies, Serena Lee, benni macdonald, Marijana Mandusic, Megan Moore, Tracy Peters, Davis Plett, Lucas Regazzi, Sabrina Sethi, Nicole Shimonek, Suzie Smith, and Mahri White.
Trackings and Trappings is lead by faculty members: Natalie Purschwitz, Anju Singh, and Justine A. Chambers. The program was marked by two intensive weeks that included presentations, public lectures and conversations, performances, outings, movement and somatic exercises, workshops, and studio visits by the respective faculty and by guest speaker Bopha Chhay.
From July 8-19th, participants considered the expanded notions of mapping, encouraging participants to investigate their own practice through the trappings of normalized systems of belief. Participants were invited to reorient their gaze, sensation, and attention to gain understanding of how hard-wired ideological structures influence how we chart our trajectories through lived experience and conditioned environments.
The rooftop patio will include food + drink, and will feature a playlist put together by Justine A. Chambers' grandmother, titled Tailfeather.
All programming is free and open to the public!

Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art recognizes we are in the territories of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Dakota, Dene, Métis, and Oji-Cree Nations. Plug In ICA is situated in Treaty 1 territory, the ancestral and traditional homeland of Anishinaabe peoples. Treaty 1 was signed in 1871, taking this territory from seven local Anishinaabe First Nations in order to make the land available for settler use and ownership (Referenced from the University of Winnipeg).
