July 23, 2015 – 6pm to 7:30pm
Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art is pleased to present an artist talk by Dagmara Genda as part of the 2015 Summer Institute: Archival Shadows. Genda is a participant in this year’s Summer Institute, our annual post-graduate residency for professional artists. She will speak about her work as part of a series of discussions related to this program. Archival Shadows, this year’s iteration of the Institute is lead by Nat Chard and Perry Kulper and loosely themed around contingent architecture, one that invites broadened engagement and offers a range of spatial and experiential possibilities.
Genda is an artist and writer. She primarily works in drawing, collage and installation and is interested in how we mark boundaries and delineate identity. Her work has recently been shown at the Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff; The Esker Foundation, Calgary; The Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener + Area Biennial, Kitchner/Waterloo as well as in public and private venues across Canada and the US. Over the past two years, she has participated in various residencies, including Xucun Artist Commune, China and the Canada Council London Residency. Genda’s writing can be found in Border Crossings, Canadian Art, Momus, and C Magazine.
Plug In ICA gratefully acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council and Winnipeg Arts Council as well as our generous donors, valued members and dedicated volunteers.
