Opening Reception: Id’s Its

July 4, 2014 – 7pm to 11:45pm

Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art presents the opening reception of Deirdre Logue’s Id’s Its on Friday, July 4th at 7:00 pm. There will be an outdoor barbecue and cash bar.  This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Dominated by dramatic colours and controlled chaos, Id’s Its is composed of a number of video art installations by Toronto artist Deirdre Logue. Id’s Its is comprised of experimental self-portraits initially conceptualized during Logue’s summer residency at Open Space, Victoria in 2012. These multi-faceted installations continued her ongoing exploration into the psychological and physiological space of the self in contemporary art. Visitors to the exhibition will encounter an immersive and visually intense terrain. Logue is internationally recognized for her experimental film and video works that engage questions around queer identity, mental health, feminism, and the role of media arts in a broader spectrum of art and society.

Deirdre Logue holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an MFA from Kent State University. Recent solo exhibitions of her award winning film and video work have taken place at Open Space in Victoria, Oakville Galleries, the Images Festival in Toronto, the Berlin International Film Festival, Beyond/In Western New York, YYZ and at articule in Montreal. Logue has contributed over 25 years to working with artist-run organizations dedicated to media arts exhibition and distribution. She was a founding member of Media City, the Executive Director of the Images Festival, Executive Director of the CFMDC, founding member of the Media Arts Network of Ontario (MANO) and is currently the Development Director at Vtape.
