Conversation with Rob Kovitz and Robert Enright

Please join artist Rob Kovitz in conversation with critic Robert Enright at Plug In ICA on December 12, 2009 at 3:00pm. Ice Fishing in Gimili (a novel) is an exhibition that will run from December 12, 2009 to February 21, 2010 with an opening reception on Friday, December 11 at 8:00 pm.
Rob Kovitz creates bookworks and web projects that consist of texts and images he collects from various sources and recombines through a meticulous but highly subjective process of editing, ordering and juxtaposition. In addition to Ice Fishing in Gimli, he has published four other bookworks including Pig City Model Farm (with Princeton Architectural Press) and Room Behavior (with Insomniac Press), various magazine projects, and online projects at www.treyf.com. He currently lives in Winnipeg because of its very interesting weather, where he also teaches at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture.
Robert Enright is the University Research Professor in Art Theory and Criticism in the School of Fine Art at the University of Guelph. He was the founder and is currently the Senior Contributing Editor and film critic for Border Crossings magazine. He has received 14 nominations at the National and western Magazine Awards for his writing in its pages, winning four gold and two silver medals. He has contributed over 110 reviews and features to the Arts Section of the Globe & Mail, and has written articles and conducted interviews for frieze, Modern Painters, ArtReview and ARTnews. Professor Enright has also published introductions, essays and interviews to some 40 books and exhibition catalogues. Professor Enright was made a member of The Order of Canada in 2005.
