Wanda Koop was born in Vancouver but moved to Winnipeg with her family as a young child. She graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1973 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Her career as an artist spans almost four decades.  She has been the recipient of many honours including The Japanese Fund Award, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and honorary degrees from the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and the Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She is a Member of the Order of Canada. She has had over 50 solo exhibitions in Canada, Europe, India, China, Japan and Brazil and her work is in major public and private collections internationally.
