Postcommodity to perform “Your New Age Dream Contains More Blood Than You Imagined”
Saturday May 29 at 7:00 pm at Plug In ICA
Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art presents a performance by Postcommodity on Saturday, May 29 at 7:00 pm at 286 McDermot avenue. Postcommodity will perform their new cycle of American Indian futurist hunting songs, Your New Age Dream Contains More Blood Than You Imagined. The quartet, which features Raven Chacon (KILT, Mesa Ritual and numerous other ensembles) and Nathan Young (Ajilvsga), utilizes antlers, hunting calls and amplifiers to achieve an electro-acoustic hybrid of drone and free-improvisation that transports audiences to that distant place in the woods your parents warned you about. The performance will be accompanied by multi-channel video projections created from feedback that continually shift, evolve and re-imagine the tribal geometries of the future.
Postcommodity is an interdisciplinary American Indian arts collective comprised of Raven Chacon (Navajo), Kade L. Twist (Cherokee), Steven Yazzie (Laguna/Navajo) and Nathan Young (Delaware/Kiowa/Pawnee). Postcommodity’s art functions as a shared Indigenous lens and voice to engage and respond to the contemporary realities of globalism and neoliberalism. www.Postcommodity.com
