Summer School 2009: Artists’ Presentations
August 3 to 5, 2009
Plug In ICA is pleased to announce the participating artists for Summer School 2009, a pilot project that is a hybrid artist residency/art research/art school program for professional practicing artists.
The public is welcome to join Summer School artists at public program events throughout the month of August.
The first of these events will be a series of introductory artist talks, on the evenings of August 3, 4 and 5 all starting at 7 p.m. (Monday through Wednesday). These short sequential presentations will serve as a quick and engaging overview of a diverse range of contemporary artists working in diverse media. The presentations are free and everyone is welcome.
Summer School 2009 artists include: Tammi Campbell, Steven Leyden Cochrane, Lita Fontaine, Liz Garlicki, Becky Ip, Craig Love, Sarah Massecar, Caroline Monnet, Sandee Moore, Freya Björg Olafson, Pam Patterson, Bev Pike, Emily Rosamond, Tim Schouten, Andre Silva, spmb [Karen Shanski and Eduardo Aquino with Adam Robinson], and Cyrus Smith.
Artists will be working on Plug In’s premises throughout the month, transforming our exhibition environment into an artists’ studio. This transformation is part of the subject of the program, exploring the relationships between artist research, production and exhibition. Diverse activities will be publicized and documented. You may want to call ahead before visiting to ensure the timeliness of your visit on any given day.
Plug In’s Overlooked Space and offices will be open during regular gallery hours throughout the month.
