Under the Stars: Creatures of the Night • A Costumed Dance Jubilee
Saturday, October 28, 2023 | 9:30 pm
South Sudanese Community Centre (129 Dagmar St, Winnipeg, MB)
Plug In ICA is pleased to present a jubilee celebration as a part of our 50th year anniversary programming. Join us for the costumed fete of the season, filled with old friends and new accomplices.
Plug In ICA has a proud history of orchestrating social events cherished by the arts community and its allies. This year’s celebration, on Saturday October 28th, will occur at the historic South Sudanese Community Centre, nestled at 129 Dagmar Street (between Bannatyne & William), in the heart of the city. A living relic, this venerable structure served as the original home of the Shaary Zedek Synagogue and later as the cherished clubhouse of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
On a night of the full moon, be prepared to twirl and sway to the rhythm of your heart’s desires, guided by the masterful beats of DJ Jared Star. As the evening unfolds, a constellation of extraordinary talents will grace the stage, presented by the visionary Cascade Chanel and the aptly named “Ladies of the Night.” Come as you aren’t and participate in the Best Costume Competition. Partake in delights from food trucks on site, and pick up a Creature Ticket for exclusive bar access.
Earlybird tickets are already available for purchase exclusively here. Secure your place in this night of wonder at a special rate of $35 per ticket, or opt for the Creature Bundle priced at $100. This discounted Bundle entitles you to two admission tickets, exclusive bar privileges, a Plug In ICA membership, and an array of other perks to elevate your evening.
After September 29th, individual tickets will be $45, while the Creature Ticket, accompanied by exclusive bar access and special perks, will be available at $75. As the magical evening draws near, last-minute revelers can procure tickets at the door for $55.
Join us, all you enchanting creatures of the night, to salute over half a century of programming at Plug In ICA. With a storied history in Winnipeg’s artistic landscape, we invite you to celebrate the past, present and future of Plug In ICA’s commitment to fostering vibrant artistic communities.

About Plug In ICA:
Since 1972, Plug In ICA has presented ambitious programs of exhibitions, publications and public events that combine artistic innovation, conceptual sophistication and a commitment to public address. As Manitoba’s most accessible public gallery, with its prominent location in downtown Winnipeg, wheelchair accessibility and free admission, Plug In ICA’s exhibitions and initiatives are appreciated by a wide spectrum of audiences, and we have made the lowering of barriers to communities that have been historically marginalized and under-represented by arts organizations and institutions.
Costumes inappropriately representing other people’s struggles, such as poverty, violence, racism, or disability were not welcome. Plug In ICA reserved the right to deny entry or ask attendees to leave who were wearing culturally inappropriate and insensitive costumes. If you are unsure what this meant please view the links below. (Thank you to QPOC, Winnipeg for sharing these links).
