Video: Shannon Bool, Artist Talk
Berlin-based artist, Shannon Bool, presented a talk on Tuesday, September 25th, 2018 at 7pm. The talk was in conjunction with the exhibition, Days of Reading: beyond this state of affairs, which opened Saturday, September 29th, 2018. The Canadian born artist’s stream of work has always permutated in diverging forms to include murals, sculpture, tapestries, and photograms. She continues to concentrate her works in visual codes that are entrenched in popular culture, art history, pre-historic and ancient civilizations. Bool’s talk will cover her expansive practice, as well as her commissioned contribution for the upcoming fall exhibition: All Saints Bench. This new work is an extension from a previous line of work that is also involved with surface, ornamentation and their historical, emotional and poetic resonance.
Bool has presented her work widely across Europe and North America. Her work was included in the 2016 Montreal Biennial and she has exhibited at the Berlinische Galerie, the Museum für Moderne Kunst and the Lenbachhaus, who all collect her work. Her work has also been acquired and exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where she has exhibited work along side Erica Baum and Moyra Davey. She is currently represented by, Toronto Daniel Faria Gallery and Kadel Willborn, Dusseldorf.
This is the first presentation of Bool’s work in Winnipeg. We are privileged to host her work along with an esteemed list of artists gathered for Days of Reading: beyond this state of affairs.
We would also like to recognize Daniel Faria for his support of All Saints Bench and Fabris and Watts for their support in producing this new work by Bool.
