Patterns Collective is happy to present A beautiful struggle by Dafe Oboro in collaboration with Plug In ICA’s 2020 Prairie Art Book Fair.

“A beautiful struggle is a fashionable portrait following a small-town man’s pursuit of stardom against a vibrant, psychedelic backdrop of Lagos city where music is his passion. Written/Produced/Directed by Dafe Oboro in collaboration with Vlisco&co. Featuring fashion designs by Papa Oyeyemi and Abiola Olusola.”

On September 13, 2020 Patterns Collective in conversation with Oboro discussed & got to know the ideas behind the film, the filmmaker himself and the cinematography of the film.

A beautiful struggle was screened as part of the online event.

Patterns Collective was initially founded on the idea of curating performances via virtual platforms, our goal is to bring communities together and also connect artists from far and near, by breaking the barrier of location. Patterns Collective is composed of Chukwudubem Ukaigwe, Shaneela Boodoo, and Mahlet Cuff.

Dafe Oboro is a filmmaker, photographer, producer and casting director based in Lagos, Nigeria.
