Call for New Board Members

Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art is excited to announce we are seeking Board members to join the Plug In ICA Board of Directors.

Since 1972, Plug In ICA has existed as a platform for the creation and dissemination of art in both local and international arts communities. Together, we’ve supported hundreds of artists to create meaningful work that critically engages and reflects our wider social context. We passionately believe in the importance of interrogating where we sit as an organization and dismantling institutional identities to empower + enrich communities.

Potential Board members can expect to commit around 5 hours of participation per month. This includes meetings, participating in committees, and promoting Plug In ICA in the wider community. Members are elected at the Annual General Meeting for a term of three years and may be re-elected up to four times, for a total of twelve years.

The Board of Directors is collectively responsible for acting in the best long-term interests of the organization and the community which requires a broad sense of knowledge and an openness to learning. A third of our Board is made up of  artists and participation in the cultural community is a strong asset for members.

The full description of the role can be found in the attached pdf.

Plug In encourages applications from visible and invisible minority group members including Black persons, Indigenous persons, People of colour, women, persons with disabilities, persons across the spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identities, and others with the skills and knowledge to productively engage with diverse communities. We are committed to hiring on merit and to removing barriers in employment policies. Should you require accommodation during the application process please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.

If you are interested in joining the Plug In ICA Board, please email a letter of intent and a bio to board@plugin.org by March 31, 2024
